Helter Skelter Sunday

Today was filled with: (gasp! wheeze!)

1. Having our family pic taken to send out in our Christmas cards

2. Having said pic developed in time for sending out next week.

3. Dropping off Cosi and Lupo at the vet for their shots.

4. Decorating our home (we had to buy a new wreath and stockings as our old ones were nowhere to be found :( )

5. Cleaning up piles of mess here and there.

6. Trying to start packing for our Boracay trip. We leave on Tuesday! :) (We're pretty excited as we've never been) Whew! Lots going on!

Unionbank Visa Hotline Sucks!

All I wanted was an email of my outstanding balance so that I can pay them! But no! they don't want to give it to me. They usually do, except this month they didn't.. and I called their hotline and asked why. The first time I did that, the forwarded me to 2 other phone numbers. I followed and then those 2 numbers forwarded me back to the original hotline number! And when I called the hotline back they were going to do the same forwarding process. Stupid.

After that whole process, they promised to email me the balance the next day. So I waited a day... no email. I called them back and asked for it. All they could say was: "Sorry sir, but I do not have access to your account." "Ok fine," I told them and asked when is the due date. "Sorry sir, but I do not have access to your account," was their reply. Isn't it standard when the due dates are? So I asked them, "What can I do now? I just want to pay my bills on time and I do not know how much I have to pay" They answered: "Sorry sir, but I do not have access to your account."

Damn stupid. It was like I was talking to a wall. I was so pissed that I replied, "Thank you! Thank you for not helping me." And then I hung up.

We're Back Online

After a couple of days of being offline, we're back. We apologize if you saw us then... our emails have been bouncing as well. The reason: expiration of our hosting fee. We didn't renew in time so we got into this mess. But I'm glad things worked out and we're back!

Hand Interface

Here is the demo of an excellent solution to a problem I was thinking of a while back. I had come up with my own personal experimental project (click project 1: dr designer) as part of my application to IDII Italy. The kittytech solution reminded me of this and I must say, they did good work. Although I think I would create more "shortcut keys."

Measure Map mesures your blog traffic

Measure Map opens for alpha testing.. I got an email today saying that I can start measuring traffic for my site! A couple of lines of code is all it needs to be inserted into your template and voila! Works great. What I like about it is that it shows the country where the people visit from. My host has its own traffic tracking system but it ends up just saying that 99% of my traffic comes from an "unspecified region" which I assume is the philippines. Well, in this one, we are on the map finally:

Surprise!! Its a different site!

No, of course not.

Hay. I can't help but just start from scratch with the design. But I don't have time to focus on it now. So I just put this temporary template up. Aack. That's the problem with being a designer and being self critical, you do revisions after revisions even before people get to see it. (of course in this instance I haven't done any).

So please hold your horses and the design will hopefully be done soon.

Fixing this site: Updated

Update: it seems like the layout still doesn't display properly in Internet Explorer. My apologies. Please use firefox for the meantime.. my day job has taken over my time at the moment.

After a long time of trying to fix this blog.. I've finally got the motivation and time to do it now. I've actually stopped trying before because I didn't have the skills to make css-tableless layouts in internet explorer. But in my new job, I made my first complex tableless website. So I applied some of the skills I got there to this site.

If you don't notice the changes, it's okay because I just really removed the white background from below our entries. I had a problem positioning the text exactly behind the colored columns before. But now I think it works fine... just have to fix that calendar.

Hazardous Hotpot

It was a pretty relaxing long weekend for us. We treated ourselves to an overnight's stay at Manila Pen then we spent the remaining days over at my folks in Parañaque.

The highlight of our weekend was our mini-shopping spree to Greenhills where my sis, Mom and I picked up cute tees, flip-flops and bags. :) We had dinner at Gloria Maris' hotpot where you can mix your own sauces. It was all very good till my Mom burned her neck trying to slice a lobster ball inside the bubbling pot. It was her Halloween costume that night. :( After that, when my Dad tried to do a similar thing, we all screamed and moved away in different directions. (not so easy to do as we were seated in a booth table) The remainder of the time, we were trying to perfect Counting Crows' song Color Blind with Fran and Noel on piano, vocals by me. hehehe. We were also hooked on episodes of House. Thanks to our crazy friend Pef.
