AppleCare is the Best!

Today I was scheduled to have the display monitor of my PowerBook replaced. I went in at around 9am and left it with them.

The problem of my screen was minor yet irritating. There suddenly was a vertical line crossing thru the left side of the screen. I had it checked out about a week and a half ago and AppleCare/Power MAC Center in San Juan said that they would replace it and that it was still covered under warranty. They told me to leave my laptop there and wait for 2 weeks. I said that I couldn't leave it since I work with it. They understood and told me that they will order the part first and then call me when I have to bring it in.

The was from Singapore I think and it took about 12 days to get here. But when it got here it only took a day for them to install it. At 5pm today I went back and got my spanking new screen, which seems brighter than ever. And all this for ZERO. Now that's great service. Thanks to Lester for doing a great quick job.

Blogging from my new office

It's my second day at my new office.. and it seems awfuly quiet compared to my old media office which had 12 TVs on the whole day. Our team of 5 are located in seprate places, because most of them are still transitioning from their old jobs, the sister company of this one. Two of them are in the other room across the hall. One is working from another location all together. I was placed temporarily in a "satellite" room.

My office (which is meant to be a private room for one person) is crammed with boxes and new computers. I share this space with another officemate who is absent as of the moment. This makes me feel like I own this space. :) nice in a way... very private and very sleepy.

Thank you!

To all those who greeted me on my birthday and to my friends who came to our little gathering last weekend: Thank you! :) It was such a memorable week.

Suite 810

suite-810.jpg

It was a riot tonight in the suite that Noel's Mom treated us to at Edsa Plaza Hotel where we celebrated Noel's birthday last Sept. 9. We started with a game of Cranium- girls (we were 4) vs. boys (they were about 600!) Then onto the main event which was reliving our youth thru DVD. (Noel had our old V8 out of town trips with our friends transferred onto DVDs)

Thanks guys for making it a night to remember! :)

All Clear

Thank God to my wonderful aunt, Tita Cay who held my hand during one of the most frightening medical tests ever. We had a nice lunch beforehand at this cozy Japanese restaurant, Unsui, at the Century Park Sheraton Hotel. Too bad I couldn't really eat much, I was so nervous. The main thing is that the test came out all normal. I am so very grateful and so very relieved! Amen.

Early Birthday Surprise!

sacherbday.jpg
Last Thursday I got an unexpected early birthday surprise from my lovely wife. A box of Sacher-Torte shipped directly from Vienna!!

I was totally taken by surprise. Via sent me a message that there was a surprise waiting for me a home. But it didn't cross my mind that it would be this! I had just gotten home from work and was preparing for dinner and lo and behold there was this wooden box on top of the dinner table. My eyes grew big. What a surprise. Thank you so much babe.. this tops my list of best birthday gifts I received ever.

Exit Stage Left

It is strange to not have our Rose around- our faithful helper and fantastic cook. It was her last day today, and I was trying not to get emotional when she asked me to inspect her suitcases while she was packing yesterday. I just pray she will be safe in Dubai or whichever Middle Eastern country she finds herself in. We told her she will have a job waiting for her here should she decide to return. Our new girl, Liza, is only 19 but she is bright and eager to learn. If only our Jack Russell Terrier, Cosi, would stop bullying her. (Cosi has this new thing about barking at open doors- the idiosyncracies of a tired mom have been on display since the day we brought her back from the animal hospital)

I share in Noel's anxiety and excitment over his new job. (which starts just a few days after his birthday on the 8th!) But we have had to face greater changes while we were living abroad on our own, though it is funny how they seem to happen all at once. This is a good move for him though, and the timing just seemed perfect. I too am considering returning to the workforce again. Though I still enjoy doing Blauorange and the line as well distribution channels have expanded, it would be nice to contribute financially to our household. Only time will tell I suppose. I wish I knew where God wanted me to be.

Transitions

September is seeming to bring a lot of transitions. Last night we celebrated our boss' leaving and her transitioning from a VP to a housewife. Also, today is the last day of Rose (our all around househelp) and we transition into a new one. Thank God we found one just in time, and I hope she lasts.

But one of the biggest transitions this month for me at least would be my accepting a new job. Yes, I am leaving Tantra for a startup in Makati. Transitioning my work from here to there, juggling 2 jobs at the same time, looking for a replacement for me, changing my mind about working in makati (this is the first time I accept a job there), having to face that I might have less time to spend with Via during the weekdays... it has been tiring but exciting too.

I will let you know in the following weeks what happens during this transition period. Wish us luck.
